space out of it. The head building inspector happened to drive by while they were carrying out volumes
of demolition material. The existing space had inadequate headroom, except where a small Bristolite
skylight was at the center. The house was deed-restricted not to be any taller than this skylite, so raising
the attic height was not an option. Immediately Steve came up with the idea of calling the project a
skylight replacement, replacing the small existing two foot by six foot off-the-shelf skylight with a huge
twelve foot by twenty four foot structural skylight.
